Welcome to the Language Coordinators Community
About LCC
The SLCL Language Coordinator’s Community at UIUC is an organization made up of the second and foreign language program leaders and coordinators within our college. Although the variety of languages offered within SLCL is far-reaching and program sizes vary, members of the LCC have shared interests in the success of the students and teachers within their unit, the success of SLCL at UIUC, and for the research and growth of the fields of teacher education, language education, and program administration.
This group grew from a series of workshops and reading groups (including partnerships with CTE) beginning in 2005. In Summer 2009, the formation of a more formal “SLCL Language Coordinators Group” evolved into what became in 2011 the “SLCL Language Coordinator’s Community.”
Mission
LCC members make a difference in their careers and language communities by supporting best practice in foreign and second language teacher supervision and program coordination through our mission:
- To keep current on related research,
- To contribute to the research base in this field,
- To share materials and practical ideas,
- To mentor and support new coordinators,
- To advocate for teaching, teacher education, and coordination as scholarly pursuits,
- To provide opportunities for professional development.
